How this is calculated

The buy-now view uses the same formula as a one-time purchase. The save-first view subtracts money already saved from the total, then divides the remaining amount across the months (or paydays) before the target date to show the required saving per month and the earliest ready date.

The short answer

You can afford a PS6 when the real all-in launch cost is covered without using money required for bills, protected savings, or your emergency buffer. Before official pricing exists, the honest answer is a range—not a confident rumor dressed as a number.

This calculator is for planning. It is not evidence of Sony's price or launch date.

Build a day-one total, not a console headline

The amount you spend at launch may include the console, tax and shipping, one or more games, an extra controller, a headset or storage accessory, and a subscription you choose to add.

Use console only if that is genuinely the plan. Use complete setup if the console would be frustrating or unusable to you without the extras.

Do not count an old-console sale at the best listing price you can find. Use a conservative net amount after fees, or exclude it until the money is received.

Plan with a range while the facts are unknown

The page offers an editable planning estimate without presenting it as Sony's forecast. The user can see the amount required per payday under the chosen scenario.

That makes uncertainty useful: if a higher estimate fits, a lower price creates extra room. If only the lowest plan fits, the user knows the purchase depends on an outcome that is not guaranteed.

Update policy for this page

Until Sony announces the console: state clearly at the top that price and date are unannounced, link to the official PlayStation site for current hardware information, show the editorial review date, review the page monthly only if meaningful news exists, and never replace "unannounced" with a rumor in the title tag.

After an official announcement: replace scenario presets with official models and U.S. list prices, cite Sony directly, update the review date, retain an editable custom amount for tax, bundles, and regional differences, and keep any preorder timing explanation separate from affordability.

How to read your result

Funded means your saving plan covers the estimated total by your chosen date. It does not mean the console will cost that amount.

More time needed shows the gap and a new ready date at the current contribution.

Creates a gap means the current saving rate is not enough. Increase the rate, lower the planned extras, or move the date.

PS6 affordability FAQ

Straight answers on how the calculator works and what to do with the result.

Sony has not announced an official PS6 price. Use the editable estimate above as a savings target, not a fact, and replace it when official pricing is available.

Sony has not announced an official release date. The target date in this calculator is the date you want your savings ready; it is not a launch prediction.

Choose a console estimate, then add tax, games, controllers, and accessories you expect to buy. Subtract only dedicated savings and a conservative trade-in amount. The remaining total is your current planning target.

That depends on the final offer, whether you still use it, compatibility, and when the new console is actually available. Do not count a trade-in value as cash until you have a firm offer, and avoid giving up a console earlier than your plan requires.

Preordering is a product-availability decision, not proof that the purchase fits your budget. Once official terms exist, check when payment is charged, the cancellation policy, the all-in price, and what the purchase would leave after your other commitments.
